Profs. Mathieu Blanchette and Jérome Waldispühl to lead new project in computational genomics
Feb. 14, 2019
A team led by SOCS professors Mathieu Blanchette and Jérome Waldispühl, as well as Prof. Jacek Majewski (McGill University and Genome Quebec Innovation Centre) have received a Genome Canada grant to start a major new research initiative in bioinformatics and computational biology. The project aims to develop improved computational and statistical tools for analyzing 3D genomic data, which is important for understanding the structure and function of DNA. The new tools will be integrated with the team’s 3D visualization platform that will help scientists explore data, and generate and test hypotheses. They will also release a version of the visualization tool for non-specialists to explore and learn about this subject.
Congratulations on this achievement!
