Help us send 40 students each year for the next three years to the Canadian Celebration of Women in Computing (Can-CWiC) and continue fostering a strong, inclusive computing community at McGill University.
While Computer Science has historically been a predominantly male-driven field, over 36% of students studying computer science are women. In concrete numbers: 700 undergraduate women pursuing a degree in Computer Science, alongside 80 MSc and PhD students. Given the growing number of students, McWics and the School of Computer Science are committed to build a community among the students and support them!
Can-CWiC is Canada’s largest gathering of women in computing, providing meaningful opportunities for professional networking, mentorship, and career growth. Students who attend gain confidence, find inspiration, and bring back valuable insights that strengthen our community at McGill.
With your support, we aim to raise $7,500 to send 35 students (5% of our undergraduate students) and 5 graduate students to Can-WWiC in Fall 2025. Thanks to academic sponsorship opportunities, every $1,500 allows us to send 8 students together with a faculty member, amplifying the impact of your contribution.
We hope to continue to actively support an inclusive culture of computing at McGill, and empower our female students to build their own networks, meet like-minded individuals, and achieve their full potential.
