Job Description:

  • Position Title: Research Assistant: Classification of patients and healthy subjects based on MRI data
  • Hiring Unit: Neurology and Neurosurgery
  • Work location: 3801 University St., room NW 255
  • Hours/Week: Approximately 35 (Full time) during the summer
  • Duration: May 1st – September 30th, 2025 (extension possible)
  • Hourly Wage: The salary is commensurate with the candidate’s skills and experience.

Primary Duties

  • A research assistant position is open at the Montreal Neurological Institute Brain Imaging Centre.
  • In collaboration with the lab members, the candidate will develop machine learning protocols for classifying patients and healthy control subjects and for predicting the prognosis of a disease condition based on MRI data.
  • The data includes anatomical-, functional-, and diffusion MRI.
  • Education/Experience

    • The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or Ph.D. degree from the ECE, Software Engineering, or Computer Science programs.
    • They should have excellent programming, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ideally, they should have previous knowledge of machine learning / AI, signal processing, image processing, statistics, and MRI.
    • Ideally, they should have knowledge and experience in: Linux. git, remote computing, containerization technology. Experience with Python.
    • Knowledge of neuroimaging analysis software and methods, and in modern Data Science methods is an asset.
    • Willingness to learn new data analysis techniques, neuroscience, and brain imaging is an asset.
