POSITION TITLE: Research Associate

Department / Research Program: Department of Medicine, Division of dermatology

INTRODUCTION AND ROLE:

Under the direction of the principal investigator, the employee actively participates in the execution of epidemiological/clinical research projects utilizing population databases (e.g., CanPath, RAMQ), as well as qualitative and quantitative clinical research projects. Additionally, the employee is responsible for various administrative tasks, scientific writing, and coordinating the diverse research projects.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support in biostatistics and machine learning for research data analysis.
  • Write scientific manuscripts, protocols, and grant applications.
  • Support and supervise lab members with their research projects.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including budget management and meeting coordination.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  • STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:

    • Quality and proficiency in statistical analyses and written manuscripts.
    • Expert in Bayesian statistics and machine learning.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and manage projects effectively.
    • Organizational skills and autonomy.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Education: Doctorate Degree

    Field of Study: Epidemiology, biostatistics or computer science

    Other education considered an asset for this position: biostatistics

    Work Experience: 1 year (flexible)

    • Prior experience as a post-doctoral researcher, research assistant, or research associate.
    • Experience in project coordination and management.
    • Experience in data analysis, machine learning and Bayesian statistics.
    • Experience in scientific writing.
    • Excellent competencies in oral and written communication skills in French or English.
    • Team player, excellent organizational skills, rigor.
    • Autonomy, ability to work with minimum supervision.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Status: Temporary Full-Time (35-hour workweek)
    • Compensation Level: Commensurate with education & work experience. The Talent Acquisition Team will confirm the salary level, the minimum and maximum will be posted.
