Public domain This image is in the public domain because according to the Polish Copyright Law Act of February 4, 1994 (Article 4, case 4) "governmental symbols, documents, materials and signs are not subject to copyrights". Hence it is assumed that this image has been released into public domain. However in some instances the use of this image in Poland might be regulated by other laws.
Public domain This image displays an insignia of a rank in the Podhale Rifles. International law requires these for combatant identification which therefore makes copyrighting rank insignias in violation of international law. This means the image is in the public domain. This applies worldwide.

Note that the use of such symbols is restricted in many countries independently of the copyright status.
