Self-portrait sketch done by E. E. Cummings circa 1920

This image is in the public domain in the United States. In most cases, this means that its first publication was in the United States prior to January 1, 1923 or that its copyright expired in the United States.
This image might not be in the public domain outside of the United States (this especially applies in Canada, China (not Macao or Taiwan), Germany or Switzerland). The creator and year of publication are essential information and must be provided. See Wikipedia:Public domain and Wikipedia:Copyrights for more details.

Public domain in the US, however the photographer is unknown and as such may not be eligible for the public domain elsewhere. Blankfaze 17:33, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)

{{copyrighted}} Cummings dies in 1961, the copyright will thus expire in 2031; the image is not PD.

Well - the image is public domain in the United States, but not necessarily in other jurisdictions, because it was created before 1923 but there are issues elsewhere with author death dates and such and such... Blankfaze 17:36, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)

stuff that is public domain in the us only seems to be accepted here at present (we have a tag for it which is listed on the official tags page in the section with the acceptable tags). Plugwash 15:29, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)
