Prof. Joëlle Pineau elected to the Royal Society of Canada

The School is extremely happy and proud to announce that Professor Joëlle Pineau was elected Fellow of Royal Society of Canada! This is a remarkable achievement that recognizes the deep impact she has had, and is continuing to have, on the field of machine learning and AI. 

Quoting from the RSC’s nomination:

Prof. Pineau has since made deep and prolific contributions to research in machine learning, with a focus on Bayesian learning and planning under uncertainty. She has contributed not only to developing the deep foundations of those fields, but also their applications in a wide range of sectors including human-computer interaction, robotics, and personalized and robot-assisted healthcare. Professor Pineau is a leader of her community and a champion of responsible artificial intelligence.
